This notice outlines the official copyright, licensing, and reuse terms for all content published in the Journal of Biological and Life Sciences (JBLS), ensuring transparency and legal compliance for authors, readers, and institutions.

1. Copyright Retention
Authors retain the copyright of their original scholarly work. By submitting to JBLS, authors grant the journal a non-exclusive license to publish, distribute, and archive the final version of their article under an open-access model.

2. Open Access License
To promote the widest possible dissemination and application of research, every article is published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). Under this license, users are free to:

  • Share – copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format.

  • Adapt – remix, transform, and build upon the material.
These permissions are granted for any lawful purpose, including commercial activities, on the sole condition that appropriate attribution is provided. Proper attribution must include: credit to the author(s), citation of the Journal of Biological and Life Sciences (JBLS) as the original source, a link to the CC BY 4.0 license, and an indication if changes were made.

3. Detailed Rights and Responsibilities

  • Author Rights & Self-Archiving: Authors are explicitly permitted and encouraged to deposit the final published PDF in institutional repositories, on personal or lab websites, and on scholarly networking platforms (e.g., ResearchGate, Google Scholar). They may also reuse any portion of their article (e.g., figures, datasets, text) in future works without seeking additional permission, provided the original JBLS publication is cited.

  • Third-Party Material: Authors are solely responsible for obtaining written permission from copyright holders for any third-party content (e.g., images, photographs, complex tables, extensive quotations) included in their manuscript and for providing proper acknowledgment.

  • Publisher Archiving: JBLS reserves the right to preserve all published content in long-term digital preservation systems (such as CLOCKSS or Portico) to ensure its permanent accessibility as part of the scientific record.

4. Ethical Standards and Originality
Authors must guarantee that their submission is original work and has not been plagiarized or published elsewhere. JBLS adheres to the principles and guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). All allegations of research misconduct, including plagiarism and copyright infringement, will be investigated in accordance with COPE procedures.
